Southern Regional Technical College Opens New AI Manufacturing Lab

Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) is set to launch a cutting-edge facility this fall, advancing its Precision Manufacturing & Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering Technology programs.

This state-of-the-art lab, part of the Georgia AIM Project 2A under the Technical College System of Georgia, will house advanced AI-driven manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines recently transferred from the Bainbridge campus.

With nearly $500,000 in funding from Georgia AIM, the lab will initially serve 20 students in the college’s associate degree programs. As the program grows, so will its reach, says Willie Allen director of innovation for the college. Eventually, the lab will foster regional educational partnerships and support local businesses through dedicated incubation spaces. These opportunities include teachers and students from the region and growing partnerships with Georgia Tech programs, FLEX, the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission, local manufacturers, and K-12 school leaders.
