As a part of Georgia AIM’s goal to advance AI in research and workforce, the Technical Workforce Development project provides training from technical colleges in AI manufacturing and smart technologies to establish a workforce pipeline supporting the growth of well-paying jobs. Split into two subprojects, 2a and 2b, Technical Workforce Development brings together technical colleges and Spelman College to achieve this goal.
Project 2a is led by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) to provide regional entry points to AI manufacturing technical education for students to produce graduates with direct careers into the industry. As part of this effort, Georgia AIM supports AI manufacturing studios at four technical colleges across the state: Georgia Piedmont Technical College, Lanier Technical College, Southern Regional Technical College, and Central Georgia Technical College, serving AI job growth in Georgia and bolstering existing industries vital to national security and economic resilience.

In addition to the new academic programs supported by these manufacturing studios, Georgia AIM supported TCSG in launching innovation incubators at three rural colleges (Lanier, Southern Regional, and Wiregrass Georgia) to enact synergy around AI manufacturing innovation and entrepreneurship from kindergarten through college.
The Spelman College Project 2b will complement the TCSG-led activities by providing AR/VR modules for TCSG programs, especially remote operations.
